The Gubarets family created a strawberry farm in the Khabarovsk region. Farmers have learned to get good harvests in any weather and are now going to expand their farm, the Gubernia portal reports.
Vera Gubarets has been growing strawberries for four years now. Moreover, farming combines with office work. Vera started with boxes in a small home greenhouse, and three years ago the family bought a plot near Khabarovsk – strawberries now grow on ten acres. True, on large areas and problems arose more. Strawberries spoiled due to rain or froze in winter. Last year, thieves stole the entire crop.
“There is such a place here – there are no people at all. We did not think that someone could come here and break something there. At that moment, I just wanted to quit everything, wrap it all up and leave,” Vera Gubarets shared her thoughts.
Now the mood of the farmer is optimistic. The family grows strawberries of European varieties and intends to expand the farm. State support has already been received for the construction of greenhouses, a warehouse and the purchase of planting material.
“Agrostartup provides for the construction of six film greenhouses, respectively, which can give us the opportunity to get a crop much earlier and finish it much later,” Vera Gubarets said.
At the end of the summer, the family will plant a new strawberry plantation so that it can take root over the winter.
