In addition to growing vegetables, horticulture is also developing in the region.
The entire sown area of the Volodarsky district in 2022 amounted to 3114.2 hectares. Volodarsky agrarians have already grown and sold 698 tons of vegetable products on it. Three enterprises were engaged in growing vegetables in greenhouses. The department of agriculture of the Volodarsky district said that on an area of fifty-four hectares, 135 tons of tomatoes, 410 tons of cucumbers, 128 tons of lettuce and 25 tons of other vegetables were grown in these greenhouse farms.
Forage crops are grown on 1564.5 hectares of land, horticulture is being developed on 36.5 hectares. They grow apple trees, pears, cherries and even strawberries.
“The production of agricultural products is concentrated in personal subsidiary farms – 63%, in turn, agricultural organizations and peasant farms account for 37%. For the purpose of year-round saturation with agricultural products, six enterprises of the Volodarsky district are engaged in the cultivation of vegetables, including in protected ground, ”explained specialists from the Department of Agriculture and Processing Industry of the Administration of the Municipality of Volodarsky District.
