In total, 73.5 thousand tons of greenhouse vegetables have been produced since the beginning of 2022.
Most of them are tomatoes, 59 thousand tons, the harvest of cucumbers amounted to 14.3 thousand tons and 242 tons – lettuce and green crops.
There are 10 large complexes engaged in industrial production in the region. Stavropol Territory ranks fourth in the country in growing greenhouse vegetables. Farmers provide their own population with fresh vegetables, reducing dependence on imports in the off-season. The solution of this problem is facilitated by state support for this area of the industry. First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Territory Yevgeny Grishchenko commented:
- A number of new measures have been included as part of the implementation of the state program of the IC “Development of Agriculture”. For greenhouse farms, a subsidy for the production of greenhouse vegetables produced using additional lighting technology is of particular interest. This year, 20.6 million rubles are provided for this.
By the way, in 2022-2023, it is planned to put into operation additional areas of protected ground at Solnechny Dar LLC in the Izobilnensky city district and a greenhouse complex at the Kavkaz SHP JSC in the Soviet District. The increase in areas due to the implementation of investment projects will, on average, increase the production of protected ground vegetables by 23,000 tons every year.
