The volume of exports of fruits and vegetables from Morocco to Russia in the first seven months of 2022 increased by 45% compared to the same period last year, Rosselkhoznadzor reports.
According to the service, imports of fruits and vegetables to Russia in the first seven months of this year amounted to 5.1 million tons.
Since Morocco’s citrus exports account for about 90% of the country’s agri-food exports to Russia, the latter received more than 53.6 thousand tons of clementines and more than 33.7 thousand tons of tangerines in the first seven months of 2022.
In addition to Morocco, compared to the same period last year, imports to Russia from other countries increased, including from Turkmenistan (+30%), Kazakhstan (+21%), Tajikistan (+16%), Uzbekistan (+14%) and China (+11%).
Despite the sanctions imposed against Russia, the Rosselkhoznadzor excludes the need to “build new supply chains”, explaining that today “foreign trade corridors Russia-Turkey, Russia-Iran, Russia-India, Russia-China” are functioning.
