New gardens are laid in the Nizhny Novgorod region on 56 hectares of farmland in 2022. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Resources of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Nikolai Denisov.
“Gardening continues to develop actively in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The areas under fruit and berry trees are growing every year, today they exceed 440 hectares. This year, new orchards are planted on 56 hectares. The implementation of projects for the laying of perennial plantations allows to increase the production of fruit and berry products, which reduces dependence on imported products. This year, more than one thousand tons of fruits and berries have been harvested in the region, which is four times more than in 2021,” said Nikolai Denisov.
In 2022, an apple orchard on 16 hectares was planted at the farm of Alena Kotsur in the Vorotynsky municipal district. Black currants on 33 hectares were planted in the fields of the Sergeevskoye enterprise in the Bolsheboldinskiy municipal district. A 7-hectare fruit nursery has been established in Elithoz Zarechnoye in the Ardatovsky municipal district.
“Special measures of state support are envisaged to promote the development of horticulture in the region. In particular, horticultural farms are provided with subsidies to reimburse part of the costs of planting and caring for fruit and berry plantations, and uprooting old orchards. Compensation for the installation of irrigation systems is also provided. This year, six agricultural organizations received support for a total of 32 million rubles,” Nikolay Denisov added.
In the Nizhny Novgorod region, apple trees, black currants, honeysuckle, raspberries, sea buckthorn, blackberries, blueberries, and strawberries are grown on an industrial scale.
Recall that 5.6 billion rubles of subsidies are provided to support agricultural enterprises and the development of rural areas of the Nizhny Novgorod region this year, of which 4.9 billion rubles have already been transferred to agricultural enterprises. Funds are directed to field work; melioration; reimbursement of part of the costs associated with the acquisition of machinery and equipment; elite seed production; support for producers of milk, vegetables, grain; for the development of horticulture; personnel support and other areas.
