This year, Russian farmers plan to increase sugar beet crops.
However, it is not planned to significantly increase the area for its cultivation by more than 7-8%: Russia can comfortably export about 600 thousand tons of sugar, Agroinvestor reports.
In order to meet the needs of the domestic market, about 5.8 million tons of sand and refined products are required.
Last year, the gross harvest of sugar beet in Russia amounted to 41.7 million tons. At the same time, the crop was grown on an area of about 1.04 million hectares.
For the sugar industry, the important events of last year were the suspension of sugar price regulation, as well as the lifting of the ban on its export from September 1.
