The province of Noord-Holland is investing 2.7 million euros this year and next to implement the food concept. Thirteen projects and collaborative projects that contribute to a sustainable food system will receive funding.
According to Agriculture MP Ilze Zaal (D66), the province can use the financial support to support a network that ensures the transition of the food system. “Many parties are already implementing the concept of nutrition with us. Over the next two years, we will continue our commitment to the transition to sustainable development so that the entire food system can benefit from it.”
In the concept of nutrition, Noord-Holland is committed to “clean and safe production of healthy, affordable and tasty food for all.” This means, among other things, healthy income models for entrepreneurs and the enhancement of soil and water quality and biodiversity. Goals for 2030 include sustainable land-based agriculture, increasing crop sustainability through regenerative farming, closing cycles and getting a quarter of the region’s food.
