In an effort to enhance the local economy, residents of Malangbong in Garut have been trained to produce crispy kangkung (water spinach) chips. This initiative, spearheaded by the Volunteer Coordinator of the Garut Volunteer Group (GMP), Mamad Komarudin, aims to empower farmers under the GMP’s guidance and benefit the community. According to the latest data from local sources, the GMP has equipped the production facility with all the necessary equipment for chip manufacturing, packaging, and marketing. During the inauguration event, the GMP organized training sessions conducted by industry professionals, where participants, including local women, learned the theory and practical skills of vegetable chip production. Mamad further explained that the production facility will process various vegetables, such as kangkung, bayam (spinach), and others. Ujang Zaenuddin, the Chairman of the GMP Farmer Group, emphasized their efforts to transform idle land into productive farmland by cultivating vegetables. He highlighted that now, thanks to the GMP’s support, not only farmers but also the wider community in Garut can make kangkung and bayam chips using locally grown produce.
