Farming is held in high esteem on Sakhalin soil. And every year it becomes more accessible. Berry direction, poultry farming, cattle, open and closed ground vegetables – wide doors are open to everyone in the world of their farming business.
The development of small forms of management is one of the priority areas of support for the Government of the Sakhalin Region. Now small forms can take advantage of a whole range of state support measures, grants being especially popular. Farmer Ekaterina Sycheva from the Anivsky district took advantage of this measure of support.
Having experience as an environmental engineer, Ekaterina received additional education under the Agronomist program, and in 2018 she became the owner of a personal subsidiary farm organized on the Far Eastern hectare, deciding to try herself in the berry agribusiness.
“My dream is to create a plantation of perennial berry plantations of garden blueberries and strawberries. Recently, the demand for an environmentally friendly product has increased significantly. Meanwhile, this niche in our region is not fully filled: the fruits are delivered from other regions and even from abroad, which, of course, greatly affects the price. In 2018, through the Ministry of Agriculture and Trade, I received a grant to support personal subsidiary plots. Not resting on our laurels, we decided with my husband to participate in the competitive selection for the provision of “Agrostartup”. Not the first time, but we won and that’s the main thing. Do not lose heart, gain experience and then success is inevitable. With the received 3 million rubles, we purchased a new truck and refrigeration equipment, which we already successfully use. The support of the regional Government has become a happy start to making our dream come true,” said the head of the farm.
Today, on the field of a young farmer, there are 800 garden blueberry bushes with a wide variety of varieties and 5,000 strawberry bushes, which the inhabitants of the surrounding areas have already tried.
“Any citizen can participate in the selection for the Agrostartup grant, but in the future, if he passed the competition, he must register as an individual entrepreneur in the rural territory of the Sakhalin Region and conduct his business there,” said Acting Deputy Minister Olga Shkardyuk .
A large-scale project for the provision of grants “Agrostartup” is being implemented as part of the national project “Small and Medium Enterprises”.
Recall that in our region over the four years of the project, the total amount of its financing amounted to about 52 million rubles. 18 farms became recipients of grants. Funds are provided up to 4 million rubles: 90% – grant funds and 10% own. The money can be directed to the purchase of land, the development of project documentation and construction, the reconstruction of production and storage facilities, as well as the purchase of agricultural machinery and equipment.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Trade of the Sakhalin Region, together with the regional center for the development of agricultural cooperation, are ready to continue to support the development of small farms in our island region.
