The period of summer activities in the Moscow region has come to an end, the participants of the Active Longevity project have begun harvesting vegetables and fruits, including bananas, RIAMO was told in the press service of the Ministry of Social Development of the Moscow Region.
The participants started collecting grown zucchini, tomatoes, cucumbers and cabbage, and also started harvesting pickles for the winter. In the Winter Garden in Likino-Dulyovo, a rich harvest of fruits has ripened – figs, tangerines and pomegranates. In addition, bananas bloomed for the first time in 2022.
The department noted that in the Moscow region, as part of the Public Garden project, residents of the older generation could grow fruits, vegetables and herbs without having dachas and private houses.
Citizens are not only engaged in harvesting, but also attend classes in garden therapy – the direction of psychosocial, occupational therapy through familiarization with working with plants. A prime example is the Community Garden.
The program of the Governor of the Moscow Region Andrey Vorobyov “Active Longevity” has been implemented since 2019. It provides for various programs to maintain an active lifestyle for pensioners in the Moscow Region.
