Apple harvesting has started in Russia – more than 130 thousand tons of fruits have already been harvested, which is 7% more than last year.
The most favorable areas for the industrial production of apples in our country are traditionally the South, the North Caucasus and the Central part of Russia. In addition to the organized sector, significant amounts are grown in personal subsidiary farms, primarily in the North Caucasian republics.
The Ministry of Agriculture pays great attention to the development of the horticulture sub-sector. As part of the “incentive subsidy”, support is provided for the establishment and care of perennial plantations, including the purchase of planting material, mineral fertilizers, trellis structures, anti-hail nets for intensive gardens. At the same time, when calculating the rates for establishing super-intensive orchards, the rules of the “stimulating subsidy” set the highest coefficient – at least 3, for establishing fruit nurseries and mother plantations – at least 3 and at least 4, respectively.
Thanks to state support measures, over the past 5 years, domestic farmers have significantly increased the area of orchards and increased the commercial production of fruit and berry products by almost 1.7 times.
