Belarusian onions, cabbages and apples can now be taken out of the country only based on one-time licenses of the Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Ministry. The decision does not apply to the export of products to the EEU member states and the framework of humanitarian aid. The decision comes into force on Monday and will be valid for three months.
Belsat.eu reported that Minister Alyaksei Bahdanau explained that the decision is related to prices in neighboring countries. “We are taking control over the export of products due to rising prices in neighboring countries to provide for the domestic market and our citizens,” said the minister. He added that the decree’s duration might be extended up to 6 months.
Government sets ceiling prices for vegetables on shelves
Implementing the major economic obligations undertaken this year is the objective that the president has set for the government and the National Bank. Special attention is paid to the measures to control inflation.
Last year’s results show that this indicator did not fit into the planned corridor. Now this is a priority to ensure price stability. For example, the prices of fruits and vegetables are growing strongly in the neighboring countries.
To protect the consumer, the government has already set a price ceiling on the shelves for the Belarusian vegetables.
