Canning factories in Kabardino-Balkaria have started harvesting green peas, it is with this crop that the season for processing agricultural raw materials begins.
The enterprises of the Terek and Urvan regions were the first to start harvesting and processing peas. So far, trial batches of canned food have only been made in order to determine the readiness of the equipment and make the necessary settings. Mass harvesting of green peas will begin in a few days.
According to the latest data from municipalities, this year vegetable peas in the whole country have been sown on an area of more than 5,000 hectares, which is approximately the same as last year. The main part of green peas is cultivated by canning factories of the republic.
Last year, 57.5 million cans of canned green peas were produced. On average, canned green peas account for about 20% of all canned fruits and vegetables produced in Kabardino-Balkaria.
