Dagestan will introduce new measures of state support for the production of open field vegetables
Dagestan, in terms of regions of the country, ranks first in terms of vegetable production, the annual gross harvest of which reaches 1.4 million tons. White cabbage accounts for a significant share of the shaft; tomatoes, cucumbers and a number of other vegetable crops are also cultivated in noticeable volumes.
Zones of specialized cultivation of open ground vegetables have developed in the republic. So, mainly white cabbage is cultivated in the Levashinsky and Akushinsky districts, onions – in the Khasavyurt and Kizilyurt regions, tomatoes and pumpkin – in the Kizlyar region, peppers, tomatoes and eggplants – in the Derbent region.
It is noteworthy that geographically, their own special agricultural traditions have been formed, and what is very important – there are practitioners who have been hardened by many years of practice.
According to the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food RD Sharip Sharipov, Dagestan intends to actively participate in the federal project launched in 2022 to stimulate the development of open ground vegetable growing, as well as potatoes.
