Dagestan will produce more vegetables.
This was announced at a meeting of the Operational Headquarters by the Minister of Agriculture and Food of Dagestan Mukhtarbiy Adzhekov.
According to the minister, taking into account the situation with the provision of vegetables of the “borscht set”, “a bet was made” on expanding the sowing of vegetables in open ground and potatoes.
“So, if last year vegetables were planted on an area of 40 thousand hectares, and 19 thousand hectares were occupied by potatoes, then this year we plan to 42 thousand hectares and 20 thousand hectares, respectively, focusing on the increase in organized sector. We have increased the rates of subsidies for these crops and have done a lot of organizational work with the districts.
I would like to emphasize that 75% of the growth area under these crops in the commercial sector has drip irrigation and sprinkling units, which guarantees high yields,” said Mukhtarbiy Adzhekov.
