Dharma F1 Zucchini: Enhancing Yield and Reliability in Almeria Agriculture
Almeria, Spain – HM.Clause’s Dharma F1 zucchini variety has emerged as a cornerstone for farmers specializing in horticultural crops, particularly due to its robust resistance to the New Delhi virus (ToLCNDV). This early-segment variety has garnered praise across Almeria’s agricultural landscape, establishing itself as a preferred choice among local growers and cooperatives.
“It was the pioneering zucchini variety to incorporate resistance against the New Delhi virus, making it a standout in Almeria,” remarked a spokesperson from HM.Clause. “Dharma F1 has cemented its reputation in the industry’s early segment, consistently recommended by agricultural experts for its adaptability to both autumn-winter and spring cycles.”
A key attribute of Dharma F1 is its exceptional productivity, attributed to the vigor and strength of its plants. Farmers attest that the variety extends the production cycle beyond four months, yielding straight, vibrant, dark green fruits that meet high market standards.
“Farmers have experienced firsthand that virus resistance doesn’t compromise yield,” noted Marco Antonio Pardo, a Matagorda-based producer. “I’ve seen yields of up to 9 kilograms per square meter, allowing continuous harvesting until mid-January.”
Marco Antonio Pardo, who opted for Dharma F1 in the 2023-2024 season, plans to continue with the variety this year. Initially marketing through auctions, he later collaborated with a cooperative in El Ejido, which recommended continuing with Dharma F1 for the next campaign.
Manuel Miranda from La Mojonera, Roquetas de Mar, also shared his confidence in Dharma F1, extending his harvest until mid-June following a March transplant. “I’m committing to Dharma F1 again for the upcoming season, starting with the September transplant and subsequent spring cycle.”
In addition to its disease resistance, Manuel Miranda highlighted the commercial appeal of Dharma F1, noting minimal fruit discard and consistent market-preferred coloration.
