Viticulture and wine-making enterprises of the Don region doubled their production volumes in 2022. This was discussed at a meeting in the Don government, which was held by the first deputy governor of the region Viktor Goncharov.
Last year, the grape harvest on the Don amounted to 10,000 tons, almost doubling the figures for 2021, and the volume of wine production almost doubled to 6 million bottles or more than 424,000 deciliters, the first deputy head of the region said. “The increase in production volumes is facilitated by state support for the viticulture industry, as well as a policy aimed at creating favorable conditions for the development of the viticulture and wine industry.”
According to operational data, the volume of production of still wines increased by 2.5 times compared to the level of 2021 to 3.2 million bottles (222.5 thousand decaliters). The reason for the growth was an increase in production volumes at the enterprises of JSC “Tsimlyansk Wines” by 1.4 million bottles and JSC “Millerovsky Winery” – by 538.7 thousand bottles.
Along with this, noted in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the region, there is a positive trend to increase the production of sparkling wines. Thus, their production volume indicators increased by 2.4 times compared to the level of 2021, amounting to 1.9 million bottles (134.4 thousand decaliters), which also happened due to an increase in the production of Tsimlyansk wines.
“It is pleasant that in recent years there has been not only a quantitative increase in production volumes, but also an increase in the assessment of the quality of Don wine products in the professional community and in the consumer market,” Viktor Goncharov noted.
So, just the other day, within the framework of the international exhibition of food, beverages and raw materials for their production “PRODEXPO 2023″, held in Moscow, the products of the largest Don manufacturer – the Tsimlyansk Wines enterprise, received 10 medals at once: 2 gold, 6 silver and 2 bronze. The highest marks were won by wine made from autochthonous grape varieties, which are the hallmark of Don winemaking – “Fortress Sarkel Grand Reserve. Tsimlyansky Black 2018”, “Sarkel Grand Reserve Fortress. Krasnostop Zolotovsky 2020” and “Tsimlyanskoye Starokazachye 2014”.
Also, a few days ago, Roskachestvo presented a rating of middle-price rosé wines made from Russian grapes. The test of rosé wines was carried out within the framework of the national rating – the “Wine Guide of Russia”, compiled by Roskachestvo, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the country. The top 10 best Russian producers of rosé wines include the Don producer Vedernikov Winery with dry rose wine Governorskoe Rose Vedernikovskoe 2020, and the top 20 includes dry wine JSC Tsimlyansk Wine with protected geographical indication Don Valley dry pink “Tsimlyanskoye-Ts” 2020.
At the meeting, it was noted that from February 1, a department for winemaking, viticulture and exhibition and fair activities was created in the structure of the food and processing industry of the Don Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the powers of which were partially transferred from the department of the consumer market of the Rostov region.
