In preparation for the spring field operations in 2024, Moscow’s agricultural sector is actively procuring mineral fertilizers, as announced by the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture. The current overall fertilizer supply for agricultural enterprises in the Moscow region stands at 23.7%.
As of now, 21.4 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers have already been purchased, with an additional 1.8 thousand tons contracted for acquisition. Reflecting on the past year, the region utilized 12.3 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers for autumn field works in 2023.
Vladislav Murashov, the Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Region Government and Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region, provided insights into the distribution of mineral fertilizers. He highlighted that in 2023, the highest usage was observed in six urban districts: Sergiyev Posad, Ramensky, Serebryanye Prudy, Zaraysk, Klin, and Stupino.
Importantly, the incorporation of mineral fertilizers into the soil introduces additional essential nutrients for plants, contributing to increased crop yields for various agricultural crops.
Governor Andrey Vorobyov emphasized the significance of agriculture in the Moscow region, noting that while its share in the region might be modest, it plays a crucial role in the area’s development. Vorobyov highlighted the consistent achievement of agricultural records, including substantial grain production, crucial for both livestock and crop-related industries.
The proactive approach to securing mineral fertilizers for the upcoming spring season underscores the commitment of Moscow’s agricultural sector to sustainable growth. The strategic distribution of these resources, coupled with a record-breaking agricultural performance, positions the region as a key player in the broader agricultural landscape.
