In Dagestan, 15 million rubles have been allocated to fight locusts. This is three times more than last year. A meeting of the Republican headquarters for organizing the fight against locust pests took place on April 29 under the leadership of the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan Mukhtarbiy Adzhekov in the village of Kochubey, Tarumovsky district.
According to the spring surveys of the branch of the Russian Agricultural Center for the Republic of Dagestan, this year in Dagestan about 47 thousand hectares will have to be treated against locusts in the territory of 13 municipal districts. A significant part of the cultivated areas falls on the Nogai (about 12 thousand hectares), Kizlyarsky (8 thousand hectares), Tarumovsky (2.2 thousand hectares) and Gunibsky (3 thousand hectares) districts.
Interested services provided information on the work being carried out in their areas. Representatives of contracting organizations reported the readiness of equipment and means to carry out protective measures. The Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan emphasized the importance of strengthening monitoring to identify locust outbreaks and timely suppress them.
