What do Moldovan farmers expect from the authorities and whether they will be able to sell this year’s harvest – an expert’s opinion.
Doing an agricultural business in Moldova is becoming a risky business as more and more often the weather brings surprises. Drought is becoming almost a common occurrence in the country, however, those who are lucky enough to harvest have a hard time with the sale of products, especially in the current agricultural season.
In August, the Rosselkhoznadzor announced that it found rot, codling moth and other quarantine elements in batches of Moldovan fruits supplied to the Russian market. From 31 districts of the republic, the export of fruits and vegetables was actually stopped.
Under such conditions, Moldovan farmers need to quickly look for solutions, look for where to sell their products. But the authorities must also try to rectify the situation.
We discuss these topics in the “Expertise” program in a conversation with an expert in the field of agriculture, the executive director of the Forta fermierilor association, Alexander Slusar.
