In a groundbreaking move, the trading company “Fanshenyuan” in the border city of Heihe, China, has tripled its shipments of fruits and vegetables to Blagoveshchensk through the “Green Corridor” of the Amur River Bridge. Launched in February 2023, this corridor facilitates the rapid export of perishable goods, cutting transportation costs and boosting export volumes. According to Vostok.Today, the company plans to deliver approximately 15,000 tons of fruits and vegetables to Russia this year.
Notably, the benefits of the “Green Corridor” extend in both directions. The Chinese agricultural cooperative Xianhe, also located in Heihe, has significantly increased its monthly import of Amur soybeans for processing, capitalizing on the logistical efficiency gained by inspecting goods at the destination rather than at the border checkpoint.
As reported earlier, the external trade turnover of entrepreneurs in Heihe exceeded 25.42 billion yuan from January to October 2023, marking a remarkable 106.5% increase compared to the previous year.
The “Green Corridor” initiative has proven to be a game-changer for Sino-Russian agricultural trade, fostering increased efficiency and substantial growth in cross-border commerce. Chinese entrepreneurs and farmers are reaping the benefits of streamlined logistics, leading to a significant surge in both exports and imports. This collaborative effort exemplifies the potential for international cooperation in the agricultural sector.
