Salmonella Concern Prompts Recall of Select Products from Publix Stores
FreshPlaza reports on Green Life Farms’ voluntary recall of Baby Arugula due to potential Salmonella contamination, impacting products sold at select Publix locations.
Recall Initiated Due to Health Risk
Green Life Farms has initiated a voluntary recall of its 4-ounce containers of Baby Arugula, specifically those marked with Lot #LW15124 and a sell by date of 6/15/24. This action follows routine testing that identified the presence of Salmonella in a single harvest of the product. While no illnesses have been reported thus far, the company opted to recall the affected lot out of an abundance of caution.
Symptoms and Consumer Guidance
Salmonella infection symptoms may include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps, typically appearing within 12 to 72 hours after consuming contaminated food. The most vulnerable populations include young children, the elderly, and individuals with compromised immune systems, who are at higher risk of severe illness.
Response and Corrective Measures
Upon discovering the contamination, Green Life Farms swiftly implemented corrective measures to prevent further distribution of affected batches. Importantly, subsequent harvests have not been affected by the issue, ensuring ongoing product safety and quality.
Consumer Action and Refund
Consumers who purchased Baby Arugula from the specified lot are advised to return it to the point of purchase for a full refund. The recalled product was available at select Publix stores starting from May 31, 2024.
