In recent years, greenhouse vegetable growing has been actively developing in the region. Two large greenhouse complexes with a total area of 46 hectares operate in the region – Teplichnoye JSC and Teplichny Kombinat Michurinsky LLC. Cucumbers, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, greens are grown at local enterprises. Last year, the gross harvest of greenhouse vegetables in the region amounted to 27,000 tons. More than seventy percent of all vegetables are sold in the region in federal and regional chain stores, and are also in demand in other regions.
As reported on the website of the Government of the region, at present, work is underway in greenhouse complexes to lay a new crop of vegetables, which will go on the shelves of Tambov stores in January.
