In the Yuryevets district, farmer Sergey Demin implemented a project to grow strawberries on an area of 5 hectares at the expense of the Agrostartup grant.
Director of the Department of Agriculture and Food of the Ivanovo Region Denis Cherkesov got acquainted with the work of the new farm during a working trip to the region on Thursday, August 4.
“This project received support in 2021 in the form of a grant from Agrostartup in the amount of 2.2 million rubles. Now we are already seeing results. Farm products are sold in the cities of Ivanovo and Kineshma, new jobs have been created,” said Denis Cherkesov.
As Sergei Demin said, the grant funds were used to purchase planting material. In 2021, more than 300,000 strawberry seedlings of the Dutch varieties Asia, Albion, Alba, Elania and Kimberley were planted.
Denis Cherkesov discussed with the farmer further plans for the development of the economy. Sergey Demin noted that about 40 hectares of agricultural land have already been put into circulation for the implementation of the project for growing berries in the farm. Now the farm is installing a year-round greenhouse on an area of 0.3 hectares, which will produce up to 15 tons of strawberries per year and create new jobs.
Denis Cherkesov stressed that after the implementation of the Agrostartup grant, the farm can also apply for grant support for the development of a family farm.
