This article explores the current state of greenhouse vegetable production, the top regions leading in this sector, and the government measures supporting its development.
Since the beginning of the year, approximately 730,000 tons of vegetables and green crops have been cultivated in protected ground, surpassing the collection during the same period in 2022 by 1.9% (716,300 tons). Notably, cucumber production accounts for 430,100 tons, while tomatoes contribute 283,600 tons to the total output.
The top ten regions leading in greenhouse vegetable cultivation include Lipetsk, Moscow, Volgograd, Kaluga, Tambov, Voronezh, Novosibirsk, Stavropol, and Krasnodar, along with the Republic of Tatarstan.
The growth of the greenhouse vegetable sector is attributed to various factors, including government support measures. Favorable investment credits and subsidies for the construction of greenhouse complexes in the Far Eastern regions have played a significant role. These measures are particularly crucial in ensuring year-round vegetable supply to meet consumer demand. Additionally, a federal project aimed at stimulating potato and vegetable production has been initiated this year, further contributing to the development of this subsector.
The production of greenhouse vegetables in Russia has experienced a notable increase of 1.9%, driven by the implementation of advanced technology complexes and the expansion of existing investment projects. The government’s support through measures such as preferential investment credits and subsidies has fostered the growth of this sector, ensuring a consistent supply of vegetables throughout the year.
