Advancing Efficiency and Sustainability in Carrot and Root Vegetable Polishing
Murre Technologies, known for its innovative solutions in the agricultural processing sector, has introduced the MT Polisher, hailed as ‘the world’s largest carrot polisher’. This groundbreaking machine marks a significant advancement in vegetable processing technology, designed to meet the growing demand for efficiency and sustainability.
Roy Haerkens and Huibert-Jan Zweemer of Murre Technologies explain, “The development of the MT Polisher stemmed from our collaboration with Willem de Boer, leveraging our extensive experience across various sectors—from potatoes and onions to seafood and now vegetables.” Founded in the Netherlands in 1987, Murre Technologies has expanded its expertise to integrate learnings from diverse industries, enhancing its ability to innovate.
The MT Polisher addresses key industry challenges with its unique design. “Unlike traditional setups using multiple smaller polishers, our goal was to create a single, high-capacity machine capable of processing up to 35 tons per hour,” Roy elaborates. This consolidation improves operational efficiency and reduces footprint, aligning with market demands for streamlined production lines.
Critical to its design is the incorporation of dry drive components—a feature inspired by Murre Technologies’ experience in the demanding shellfish processing industry. “We prioritized minimizing maintenance by ensuring all drive components operate in a dry environment,” Roy emphasizes. This innovation not only enhances machine durability but also reduces downtime for maintenance, crucial for continuous production.
Huibert-Jan highlights the MT Polisher’s user-friendly design, “Easy access to critical components such as brushes and belts through sectional doors and accessible motors facilitates quick maintenance, minimizing operational disruptions.”
Currently operational at Willem de Boer & Zn., the MT Polisher exemplifies Murre Technologies’ commitment to customer-centric solutions and project-based collaboration. “We are focused on delivering tailored solutions that meet our clients’ specific needs, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction,” Huibert-Jan adds.
Looking ahead, Murre Technologies aims to expand its footprint beyond the Benelux region, leveraging its global experience and infrastructure. “While our initial focus remains on perfecting operations locally, the success of the MT Polisher sets the stage for broader adoption across international markets,” Huibert-Jan explains.
“With over 3,000 m2 of workshop space and a dedication to personalized service, we are poised to lead in customer relations and technological innovation,” Roy concludes. “The MT Polisher is just the beginning of our renewed commitment to advancing the vegetable processing industry, with many more innovations on the horizon.”
