At a recent industry exhibition, Minister Ruslan Pashaev highlighted the potential of a new rainwater irrigation machine, specifically tailored to Astrakhan’s climatic conditions. Discussions also focused on collaboration with Belarus and Astrakhan’s leading position in potato production within the Southern Federal District and Russia as a whole.
Last year, Astrakhan Region emerged as the top producer of potatoes in the Southern Federal District and maintained its leading position nationwide. Collaborative efforts with Belarus yielded promising results, with nine Belarusian potato varieties planted as an experiment. Minister Pashaev noted the interest among farmers in two of the varieties, with two more under consideration for future cultivation.
