Tashkent is hosting the first meeting of the ministers of agriculture of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTG), the Turkic Agro-Forum and the Seventh meeting of the ministers of agriculture of the member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). “In order to develop cooperation in the agrarian sector between our countries, it is necessary to adapt the UTC to new realities and priority areas of cooperation,” said Yerbol Karashukeev, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
He proposed a number of measures that the members of the Organization of Turkic States can jointly implement. In particular, to expand the use of forward contract mechanisms in mutual trade in food products; increase cooperation in the agricultural sector on the basis of complementarity and effective cooperation; develop cooperation in the areas of animal husbandry and the supply of elite seeds; strengthen trade relations by removing barriers, mutual recognition of safety certificates, creating “green corridors” for the promotion of food products.
The head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan invited businessmen from the Turkic region to organize joint projects on the territory of Kazakhstan for the processing of agricultural raw materials (meat and milk, potatoes, sugar beets, oilseeds, fruits, vegetables, raw hides) for further export to third countries. Kazakhstan is ready to provide the most comfortable conditions and comprehensive support.
