In the Sverdlovsk region, the harvesting of potatoes and vegetables of the open ground is being completed.
Almost 160 thousand tons of potatoes have already been harvested — its yield is higher than last year’s level — and 23 thousand tons of vegetables of the “borscht set”. Modern vegetable storages help to preserve the harvest, their number is growing annually.
The task of preserving harvested vegetables and potatoes was set by Governor Yevgeny Kuyvashev in 2013. During this time, more than 30 vegetable storages were built, the provision of them increased by 25%.
So, in four modern potato storages, agricultural producers, united in the consumer supply and marketing cooperative “Success”, laid eight thousand tons of potatoes. The members of the cooperative have already completed potato harvesting. With the help of grants received in 2017 and 2020, the cooperative acquired potato processing lines, vegetable packaging, unloading and loading equipment, refrigeration equipment.
Harvesting of grain crops in the region has already been completed, a record grain harvest has been harvested — more than 900 thousand tons. Livestock feed is also harvested with a reserve. More than 350 forage harvesters, 724 grain harvesters, 101 potato harvesters are involved in harvesting this year. In total, last year, with the participation of state support, agricultural producers of the Sverdlovsk region purchased 419 units of equipment.
Evgeny Kuyvashev sets tasks for farmers to ensure the food security of the region, expand the volume and range of products. Significant funds are allocated annually to support agricultural producers, this year the amount of state support will amount to more than 4.3 billion rubles, of which 3.5 billion rubles from the regional budget.
