In the Stavropol Territory, the harvesting of vegetables and potatoes is being completed. Farmers have already collected more than 122.3 thousand tons of open-ground vegetables, of which 65.8 thousand tons were sent for sale and production, the Ministry of Agriculture of the region reported.
Vegetable growing is developing, among other things, thanks to state support. In 2022, vegetable growers and potato growers of the region received 98.5 million rubles under the regional state program “Development of Agriculture”. The money was sent to 83 agricultural producers, including 74 farmers. The work in this direction is supervised by the Ministry of Agriculture of the region.
Cucumbers and tomatoes of open ground, as well as peas and sweet corn have already been completely removed in Stavropol. From an area of more than 7.6 hectares, farmers collected 122.3 thousand tons of vegetables. Of these, 65.8 thousand tons have already been sold.
Harvesting of other vegetable crops continues in the region. To date, agricultural producers have harvested more than 61.5 thousand tons of onions, the area of which has increased by 3% this year, 6.9 thousand tons of table beets, 10.7 thousand tons of carrots, 6.5 thousand tons of cabbage. Most of the vegetables were harvested in Ipatovsky, Apanasenkovsky, Krasnogvardeysky and Neftekumsky districts. Agricultural enterprises of the region laid more than 39.4 thousand tons of vegetables for storage in the off-season.
Potatoes are also being harvested in Stavropol. Agricultural producers have already collected more than 137.5 thousand tons from an area of 5.2 hectares. 87.6 thousand tons were sold to retail chains, and 26.5 thousand tons of potatoes were left for storage.
Recall that vegetables are harvested all year round in Stavropol greenhouses. Their production in the region is planned to increase by almost 23%. Now Stavropol is in the top 5 leading regions of Russia for the production of vegetables of the closed ground.
