The Moscow Strawberry Festival has commenced, with approximately 150 points of sale offering a wide variety of strawberries from different regions of Russia. This article explores the development of the festival, the availability of strawberry varieties, and the consequences of this event for the city and its residents.
The Moscow Strawberry Festival, an annual event that has been held for eight years, kicked off on May 19th. This year, the festival presents modern pavilions where both Moscow residents and visitors can purchase strawberries from various southern regions of Russia.
According to the Department of Trade and Services of Moscow, starting from May 19th, more than 100 locations will offer garden strawberries from regions such as Krasnodar Krai, Volgograd, Astrakhan, Rostov Oblast, Kabardino-Balkaria, Adygea, Dagestan, Karachay-Cherkessia, and others.
As the berries ripen, strawberry producers from other regions, primarily from the Central Federal District, will also supply their harvest to the festival. Local agrarians from the Moscow region will showcase their own strawberries, making it possible to purchase this delightful fruit at 150 locations throughout the summer.
The festival traditionally features more than 15 popular strawberry and wild strawberry varieties from regional producers. Among them are “Kleri,” “Flair,” “Alba,” “Jolie,” “Albion,” “Asia,” “Roxana,” and many others, offering a diverse selection for strawberry enthusiasts.
The festival has become a cherished tradition in Moscow, attracting a large number of residents and regional agricultural participants. All the festival points of sale are conveniently located near residential areas, metro stations, and other areas with high pedestrian and transportation traffic.
To enhance the experience for both sellers and buyers, new trade structures have been introduced this year. These new pavilions can be easily recognized by their red-pink color and wooden elements in their design. The Department of Trade and Services of Moscow has stated that these new structures are more attractive, convenient, and comfortable for both buyers and festival participants.
According to the information provided by the participating producers, strawberry prices start at 300 rubles per kilogram, depending on the variety.
The Moscow Strawberry Festival is not only a celebration of this delicious fruit but also a testament to the vibrant agricultural culture of the region. It provides an opportunity for locals and tourists alike to indulge in the taste of summer while supporting regional farmers and producers.
