The Mahoning County office of Ohio State University Extension is hosting a field day Aug. 9 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Ward Campbell Farm, 11440 Palmyra Road in North Jackson. The focus of the event is how energy technology, such as solar and wind technology, can fit into a farm management plan.
“Farmers will get to see and learn about efficient farm management and how energy technology can fit into any farming business,” said Haley Drake, agriculture and natural resources program coordinator for the Mahoning County Extension Office.
Eric Romich, energy education field specialist with OSU Extension, and Clif Little, OSU Extension educator in agriculture and natural resources, will talk about how to incorporate solar technology into a farm and how to use it efficiently.
“Technology has a place on both large and small farms, and our speakers will delve into the financial aspect, as well as production, to show farmers how to utilize their existing resources,” said Drake.
To register for the event, call the Mahoning County Extension Office at 330-533-5538; mail the registration form available at http://go.osu.edu/FarmMgmtFieldDay to 490 S. Broad St., Canfield, OH 44406; or stop into the office. Registration is $5 per person and includes lunch.
