Over the past years, the production of greenhouse vegetables and green crops has been steadily growing in Russia. Since the beginning of this year alone, 822.8 thousand tons have already been grown in winter greenhouses, which is 5.6% more than in the same period in 2021. Including the harvest of cucumbers is 497.4 thousand tons (+3.4%), and tomatoes – 308.7 thousand tons (+9.1%).
The leading regions in this segment are the Lipetsk, Moscow, Volgograd, Kaluga, Belgorod, Novosibirsk regions, the republics of Bashkortostan and Tatarstan, the Stavropol and Krasnodar regions.
A set of state support measures is aimed at the development of greenhouse vegetable growing. In particular, preferential investment loans and “stimulating” subsidies are provided for industry enterprises. In addition, a new mechanism for compensating part of the costs for the construction of greenhouse enterprises in the regions of the Far East has been operating since this year.
