The Rosselkhoznadzor banned the import of crop products from August 15 from 31 regions of Moldova, the autonomous territorial unit of Gagauzia and the cities of Chisinau and Balti. The reason for the restriction is “repeated detection of dangerous quarantine objects”. This was announced by the adviser to the head of the service Yulia Melano. Earlier, the Rosselkhoznadzor lifted restrictions on the import of regulated products from Moldova.
“The measures taken by the Moldovan side to comply with international and Russian phytosanitary requirements when supplying regulated products to the Russian Federation are insufficient,” said Ms. Melano (quoted by Interfax).
Rosselkhoznadzor reported that in July 2022, 13 cases of five types of quarantine objects were detected. In particular, on July 12, employees of the department in Moscow, the Moscow and Tula regions identified a dangerous pest in seven tons of Moldovan cherries – the oriental codling moth.
On March 5, the Rosselkhoznadzor lifted restrictions on the import of regulated products from six countries – Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, China, Serbia, Bangladesh and Azerbaijan. Prior to the abolition of the import of products from Moldova to the Russian Federation, the country supplied goods from regions where no quarantine organisms were detected. From August 15, deliveries from Moldova will represent the same mechanism.
