Andrey Guryev, President of the Russian Association of Fertilizer Producers, told Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin that the need of Russian agriculture for “growth vitamins” has been almost completely satisfied during the XXIV All-Russian Agro-Industrial Exhibition “Golden Autumn”, which took place in early October.
During the forum, the key role of the availability of mineral fertilizers in achieving the goals set for farmers was also noted by Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Andrey Razin.
“We understand that it is impossible to achieve new results and increase production efficiency without achieving the recommended amounts of mineral fertilizers,” the official said. – And in this regard, we have quite serious reserves, and it is impossible to balance here without interaction with producers of mineral fertilizers. For the last 3-4 years, we have been adding general fertilization, and this has given a very good result. Many of our agricultural producers have felt the advantages of using modern agricultural technologies and are already the locomotives that move us forward in terms of the use of complex mineral fertilizers.
Today, in a number of regions of Russia, agricultural producers have already started purchasing mineral fertilizers for the spring sowing campaign.
- It is gratifying that this year there is an advanced acquisition, including ammonium nitrate and other nitrogen-containing fertilizers. This means that we have already started preparing for spring,” commented Roman Nekrasov, Director of the Department of Crop Production, Mechanization, Chemicalization and Plant Protection of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia.
He also added that the basis for the progressive increase in fertilizer application and yield growth, which is demonstrated by domestic farmers, remains the “smoothing” of peaks in fertilizer consumption and a relatively uniform distribution of their purchases by farmers throughout the year.
It is also important that purchases are carried out in compliance with the recommendations of the FAS of Russia, taken into account in the manufacturers’ trade policies published on official websites. The recommendations of the service provide for a phased indexation of marginal prices for mineral fertilizers for agricultural producers in 2022: by 5% from June 1, by 5-10% from September 1 and by 8.4-8.6% from December 1. Thus, farmers can already predict investments in mineral nutrition, which means the volume and profitability of the future harvest.
