Today, there are more than 140 vegetable storages in the region with a total storage volume of more than 460 thousand tons.
But that’s not enough. Only 776.5 thousand tons of potatoes were harvested this year, and in order not to sell it immediately at a low price, farmers need to create an appropriate storage base. As of today, 317 thousand tons of potatoes and 120 thousand tons of carrots have been laid in the region.
One of the major vegetable producers is Aksu district. The volume of irrigated land for vegetable growing is increasing here. Since there are restrictions on vegetable storage, farmers have to sell the harvest directly from the field at the lowest price. According to Aksu Akim Nurlan Dyusimbinov, two storage facilities for 30 thousand tons and 20 thousand tons were built this year – in the final stage. The construction is carried out by the farmers themselves. Next year, peasant farms are going to build two vegetable storages for 16 thousand tons and develop irrigated land with an area of over 700 hectares. In addition, the region is actively looking for investors who would invest in a project for processing products and, above all, potatoes. American investors who have recently visited the region were shown three convenient construction sites. However, they put forward a condition – the presence of a railway section near. Logistics is an important issue.
