In the Stavropol Territory, a mass harvest of open-ground garden strawberries has been completed, the regional Ministry of Agriculture reports.
According to the agency, compliance with agro-technological processes, favorable weather conditions and state support measures have affected the yield of sweet berries – for example, this year the average strawberry yield was 42 centners per hectare, which is 21% more than in 2021. Agrarians of Stavropol region harvested 308 tons, which is 8% higher than last year.
Stavropol increased milk production by 8%
“This direction of the agro-industrial complex is actively developing. As part of the implementation of the state program of the Stavropol Territory “Development of Agriculture”, last year 4 million rubles were allocated for laying berries and care work, which made it possible to recover about 70% of the costs. In 2022, the regional budget provides for subsidizing berry growing in the amount of 6 million rubles,” said Sergey Izmalkov, Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory.
The largest areas of open ground strawberries are concentrated in the Kirovsky, Trunovsky, Georgievsky, Stepnovsky districts. In addition, a unique project for the year-round cultivation of strawberries in a greenhouse complex is being implemented in the Piedmont District.
In the region, it is planned to breed new varieties of berry crops, increase industrial planting areas, use modern cultivation technologies in greenhouses, which will further increase productivity and achieve the goals of ensuring food security for the country’s inhabitants with high-quality and tasty berries.
