In 2023, Rheinland-Pfalz imported 40,652 tons of tropical fruits, including coconuts, pineapples, guavas, mangos, watermelons, melons, and papayas. Watermelon: The Unquestionable Favorite
Watermelon stands out as the clear favorite among Rheinland-Pfalz residents. In 2023, watermelon imports accounted for approximately 74% of all tropical fruit imports. The volume of watermelon imported reached a record 30,152 tons, nearly fifteen times the 2,067 tons imported in 2013.
