Cucumbers are not a socially significant commodity, so only producers set their prices. This was stated in the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Stavropol Territory on February 14 in the Telegram channel of the governor of the region.
The head of the Stavropol Territory published a report on the economic development of the region for 2022. The text says that the volume of agricultural production increased by 3.3%, and food production – by almost 14%. In the comments to the post, messenger users asked why the cost of a kilogram of cucumbers reached 450 rubles then?
In the comments, they answered from the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Stavropol Territory.
“Cucumbers are a seasonal vegetable, January-February is the period of the highest prices for them, which is due to the high cost of greenhouse vegetables. Currently, the average price for cucumbers is 200 rubles per kg. During the ripening season of open ground vegetables, the price is significantly reduced, ”said the representative of the department.
Also, among the reasons, it was indicated that cucumbers are not socially significant goods, therefore only the manufacturer regulates their cost, “which complies with the requirements of federal law.”
