The development of viticulture in the Saratov region was discussed at the site of the regional Ministry of Agriculture. The meeting, which was held by Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Region – Minister of Agriculture of the Region Roman Kovalsky, was attended by Deputy Ministers, Chairman of the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Saratov Region – Deputy of the Saratov Regional Duma Alexei Antonov, Deputy of the Regional Parliament Stanislav Denisenko, representative of the Association of Producers of Fruits, Berries and Planting Material “Gardens Volga region” Nikolai Nasledskov, scientists-breeders, viticulturists of the region, sommelier.
It should be noted that the area of vine plantations in all categories of farms in the region is 356.3 hectares, of which 7 hectares are in agricultural enterprises and peasant farms.
In 2021, 6 thousand tons of viticulture products were produced in farms of all forms of ownership, the largest producers are IP Head of the KFH Eremina A.Z. (Gagarinsky district), JSC “Volga” (Balakovo district), IE Head of the KFH Agalarov M.T. (Ivanteevsky district).
During the meeting, Roman Kovalsky instructed the winegrowers of the region to prepare and send proposals to the regional Ministry of Agriculture on varieties and hybrids of grapes that are most appropriate to grow in the conditions of the Saratov Region, and the specialists of the Ministry of Agriculture, in turn, to prepare proposals for technological equipment for processing grapes.
In addition, the head of the regional Ministry of Agriculture set the task to study and analyze the experience of developing viticulture and winemaking in other regions and consider developing a program for the development of these industries in the region.
“Now the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia is actively working to create conditions for increasing the production of Russian wine and improving its quality characteristics. As noted at the First Russian Wine Forum, which was held in Moscow at the end of November, in recent years, viticulture and winemaking has turned from a niche field of activity into one of the most actively developing sectors of the agro-industrial complex,” said Roman Kovalsky.
