The results of the “Golden Autumn 2020”: The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia presented the achievements of the Russian agro-industrial complex and outlined further steps for the development of the industry

The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia held the 22nd Russian Agro-industrial Exhibition “Golden Autumn 2020” – the main industry forum of the country. This year, for the first time, the event was held in digital format on the online platform zolotaya osen2020.rf

The exhibition was attended by all 85 regions of the country, which presented their achievements in the agro-industrial complex.

An extensive business and educational program was organized – more than 40 round tables, discussions, seminars. Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and subordinate institutions, as well as experts and market leaders shared their achievements, outlined plans for the near and long-term prospects.

According to the head of the Ministry of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev, the agro-industrial complex in 2020 demonstrates steady growth. It became possible, among other things, thanks to measures of state support provided to agribusiness – preferential loans, subsidies, grants, etc. This year, its total volume amounted to almost 337 billion rubles. This allowed agricultural enterprises to purchase more fertilizers, plant protection products, and machinery.

According to the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, in 2021, Russian farmers should increase the volume of fertilizer application by at least 200 thousand tons in active substance (to the projected 4 million tons this year). At the same time, it is possible to increase this figure to 4.5 million tons in 2021.

In 2020, the Ministry of Agriculture plans to ensure the commissioning of at least 70 thousand hectares of reclaimed land, involve more than 214 hectares of land in circulation, cultivate about 120 thousand hectares of arable land and protect an area of at least 41 thousand hectares from wind erosion and desertification.

In addition, within the framework of the exhibition, the development of small forms of management was discussed. Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev launched the first national competition of regional food brands “Tastes of Russia”. It will help to acquaint consumers with the diversity of tastes of the country and draw attention to the achievements of small and medium-sized businesses in the agricultural sector, as well as create new growth points and development drivers for rural areas of the country.

Agrotourism will also contribute to the development of the village. According to Deputy Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut, the growth of the non-agricultural sector, especially rural tourism, will reduce unemployment in rural areas, diversify the sources of income of the population and ensure the growth of its well-being, which will also help attract qualified personnel to the village and preserve rural settlements.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Elena Fastova at the round table “Agricultural insurance. Development potential” said that the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia has developed a draft amendment to the Federal Law “On State support in the field of agricultural Insurance”, which, in particular, provides for the provision of state support to farmers in case of loss of crops and planting of perennial plantings as a result of an emergency situation. “We aim to create a two-tier system of crop insurance with state support, as well as to make the transition from direct compensation for damage in the event of an emergency to an insurance mechanism,” the Deputy minister stressed.

The participants of the round table “Implementation of regional projects “Export of agricultural products”: best practices” discussed the dynamics and prospects for increasing the supply of domestic agricultural products by regions and the existing mechanisms of state support. The issues of promotion of organic products and agricultural products with improved environmental characteristics in the domestic and foreign markets were also considered within the framework of the exhibition.

In addition to the business program, which was broadcast live on the exhibition website, visitors could get acquainted in detail with the achievements of the agro-industrial complex in the virtual pavilion of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia.

The stands demonstrated the results in key areas of work, including in the fields of crop production, animal husbandry, digital solutions, exports, agrotourism and the program “Integrated Rural Development”, as well as agricultural education and science. A separate stand was dedicated to regional food brands. Rosrybolovstvo and Rosselkhoznadzor demonstrated their sites.

In the pavilions, in particular, maps of industry indicators were presented, where it was possible to see the results of work in a particular area of activity in each of the regions of Russia.
