McDonald’s announced the opening of a new, already second production site at the company “Salateria” – supplier of Iceberg lettuce, large and small cuts, as well as chopped onions and salad mix for McDonald’s.
The opening of the second production site was planned in 2016, as part of the planned development of the company “Salateria” and the increase in production capacity. The new production facility with an area of 6,500 m2 is located in the city of Solnechnogorsk, Moscow region.
At the stage of construction, design of engineering systems and production facilities, minor shortcomings of the previous production shop were taken into account and eliminated, which made it possible to optimize and prepare the site for an increase in production volumes. Now, due to the increase in the number of production lines by 3.5 times, the capacity of the new production site allows to produce approximately 800 tons of finished product per month.
The new production facility meets the high requirements for food safety – as a result of the audit according to the international standard FSSC 22000, a positive result was obtained. In addition, the new production site is equipped with automatic laser sorting (inspection) even at the stage of the manufacturing process of the finished product, which allows you to meet the high quality requirements of the product.
The company “Salateria” was founded in early 2016 and almost immediately began working with the largest federal fast food restaurant chains. The products produced by the company “Salateria” belong to the category of Ultra Fresh-ready to eat without any additional processing or washing. The company supplies salad products for McDonald’s in more than 15 cities across Russia, including Moscow, Arkhangelsk, Voronezh, Smolensk and Kursk.
Today, Salateria enters into agricultural contracts for the supply of raw materials for production, provides consulting services for cultivation, shares its experience in the use of agricultural technologies with farmers, and also participates in the development of its suppliers, partially financing production programs. All Salateria suppliers have a confirmation of compliance with the Global GAP standard. Compliance with the Global GAP standard guarantees food safety, ensures the health and safety of employees, as well as environmental protection.
Salateria plans to develop its own raw material base. The launch of our own salad growing is tentatively scheduled for 2023, with mandatory certification according to the Global GAP + GRASP standard.
Today, 99% of McDonald’s products are supplied by Russian suppliers. McDonald’s carefully monitors the quality of its products-each of the 160 local suppliers is regularly checked for compliance with high international production standards. Since 2017, McDonald’s has conducted seven product quality audits (two of which were unannounced) under the leadership of the reputable international audit company AIB International for SQMS and GMP standards.
