In the Saratov region this year, farmers in the open field and in greenhouses have harvested more than 200 thousand tons of vegetables. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture.
On the open ground, agricultural producers harvested 190 thousand tons. These are 20.1 thousand tons of cabbage, 3.2 thousand tons of tomatoes, 1.6 thousand tons of cucumbers, 3.2 thousand tons of beets, 5 thousand tons of carrots, 85 thousand tons of onions, 12, 3 thousand tons of zucchini, 46.3 thousand tons of pumpkin and 13.2 thousand tons of other vegetables.
34 thousand tons of vegetables were harvested in greenhouses. Most of the production falls on cucumbers (17.9 thousand tons) and tomatoes (15.8 thousand tons). In total, by the end of the year, the greenhouses are planning to harvest 37 thousand tons of vegetables.
The department emphasizes that the volume of harvested vegetables fully covers the needs of the region’s residents for these products.
