The 9th meeting of the Subcommittee on Agriculture of the Russian-Chinese Commission for the preparation of regular meetings of heads of government took place today. The event was chaired by Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Sergey Levin and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Ma Yuxiang. It was attended by representatives of state authorities and embassies of the two countries, industry unions and businesses, who discussed the development of trade and economic cooperation, the implementation of investment projects in agriculture, interaction in the field of veterinary and phytosanitary supervision, seed production and other topics.
As Sergei Levin emphasized, despite the challenges faced by the global economy amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the agricultural departments of the two countries manage to maintain ties at a decent level. The result of this work is an increase in the turnover of agricultural products – in the first seven months of this year it increased by 14% compared to the same period last year.
Particular attention at the meeting was paid to the organization of mutual access of agricultural products and food to the markets of the two countries. The parties noted their readiness to continue joint work to increase trade volumes and expand the range of supplies. In particular, frozen fish, cereals, vegetable oils, and meat products are of significant export interest for the Russian side.
