Farmers in the North Kazakhstan region may not be able to renew their land leases, which could jeopardize the vegetable business in the region. This information came from Khabar 24, which reports the problem, Bizmedia.kz reports.
Why is the vegetable business in trouble?
Entrepreneur Yevgeny Zolotarev from the village of Medvezhka Magzhana, Zhumabaevsky district, faced this problem. According to the law, each person is entitled to a hectare of land, but the farmer cultivates nine.
Evgeny has been working on the revival of the former state farm garden for five years. He studied the technology of growing vegetables on the Internet and learned from his colleagues in Orenburg. For example, he uses foil to keep the roots warm in harsh northern climates.
Vegetable business – need to extend land lease
The farmer has planted 5 hectares of cabbage, there are also potatoes, some peppers, eggplants and watermelons. But there are no early tomatoes and cucumbers for sale. This year, the farmer planned to plant two more hectares of cucumbers and tomatoes, but a dust storm that destroyed the greenhouse thwarted his plans.
Yevgeny Zolotarev is worried that he will not be able to extend the land lease due to changes in legislation. He currently has four hectares of land that he leases from the state, but it looks like he won’t be able to extend the lease for more than one hectare.
“The land lease is ending. That year my first act ended. I went to renew, they did not renew me. They said that more than one hectare is not allowed. This is four hectares from me. And this year, in August, the second act on the land ends, and, as I understand it, it will not be extended for me either, since the legislation has changed, ”said Yevgeny Zolotarev.
Akimat will help the vegetable business
If only a hectare remains, workers will have to be fired, there will be no deliveries of vegetables directly from the garden to supermarkets, and the vegetable grower will not be able to fulfill his contractual obligations with the SPK.
The akimat of the city of Bulaevo promises to help the entrepreneur. They say they cannot leave the region without a large producer of vegetable crops. Akimat of the city of Bulaevo promises to help the entrepreneur in his situation. They say they cannot leave the region without a major vegetable producer.
Akim Bulaeva Azamat Kraubaev discussed with the owners of the enterprise the possibility of solving the problem of lack of hectares for growing vegetables. There are several possible solutions, including setting up a legal entity to meet production needs or providing hectares to family members involved in the business.
“The enterprise is the only one in the region that grows vegetables such as cabbage, potatoes, cucumbers. We plan to resolve this issue positively. There are several options. This is either the creation of a legal entity and the provision for production needs. Or, since the enterprise is a family one, provision per hectare to several family members.
The entrepreneur plans to grow vegetables all year round, and the first crop will be harvested in the new greenhouse in August.
