Rosselkhoznadzor inspectors detect breaches in the importation of onions, carrots, and strawberries from Central Asia into Khakassia, prompting warnings to violators.
Inspectors from Rosselkhoznadzor, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, have uncovered violations in the importation of vegetables and berries from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan into the Russian region of Khakassia. The discovery of these breaches highlights the importance of stringent import regulations and compliance with phytosanitary standards to ensure the safety and quality of agricultural products.
In May 2024, during an analysis of data from the Federal State Information System “Argus-Phyto” (FGIS “Argus-Phyto”), Rosselkhoznadzor specialists identified nine violations related to the importation of quarantineable products into Khakassia via road transport. The violations pertain to shipments of onions, cabbage, carrots, and strawberries originating from Central Asian countries.
Specifically, it was found that the cargo owners failed to notify Rosselkhoznadzor about the delivery destination of the products, as required by mandatory regulations. Companies receiving high phytosanitary risk foreign quarantineable products neglected to inform the authorities about the arrival or delivery of the imported goods, contravening established protocols and risking potential threats to agricultural biosecurity.
In response to the identified violations, warnings have been issued to the responsible parties, emphasizing the importance of adhering to mandatory requirements and ensuring compliance with import regulations. By addressing these breaches and enforcing stringent oversight measures, Rosselkhoznadzor aims to safeguard the agricultural industry and protect consumers from potential risks associated with non-compliant imports.
