Yerkebulan Orazalin, Head of the Almaty Entrepreneurship Department, told what vegetables prices will decrease in the city in the coming months, Tengrinews.kz correspondent reports.
Orazalin during the briefing said that after the off-season and the increase in prices for many vegetables, prices for them are expected to stabilize. First of all, prices for cabbage and onions will decrease. Prices for these products are expected to fall as early as May, while prices for potatoes and carrots will begin to decline in June. Orazalin said that agreements had been reached with producers of the Turkestan region on the supply of early-ripening cabbage, the first batch had already arrived on the shelves of the city. In May, deliveries of potatoes, onions and carrots will begin in a total volume of more than 7,000 tons until the end of August. Since July, it is planned to supply 3.5 thousand tons of vegetables (potatoes, carrots, onions, cabbage) from the Almaty region.
“We confirm that volumes of cabbage have been contracted from the Turkestan region. Last week, the first deliveries came at a wholesale price of 180 tenge. Now cabbage is sold at a price of 240 tenge per kilogram in Small. By the end of the week, the price has dropped to 230 tenge. By the end of the next week we expect that the price of cabbage in supermarkets will reach 165 tenge per kilogram,” the head of the entrepreneurship department said.
Yerkebulan Orazalin noted that the price of cabbage will drop from 300-400 tenge in April to 165 tenge. Onions are also expected to drop prices by 50 percent. There is no harvest yet for potatoes and carrots, but from June prices for these products will also begin to decline to 50 percent or less. In the summer months, according to the head of the department, prices will drop for many products.
In order to contain a possible increase in prices for vegetables, the contracting of products for delivery to the largest retail chains has been going on since autumn. 17 thousand tons of products under four items were contracted for the Magnum network. Also deliveries of 7 thousand tons and 5 thousand tons of vegetables from Pavlodar and Almaty regions will be made.
The head of the entrepreneurship department also said that the price of meat, which is included in the category of socially significant products, has increased from 2,050 tenge per kilogram to 2,250 tenge per kilogram since the beginning of the year. This is due to the rise in feed prices. It is planned to maintain this price until autumn.
Recall that in early January 2022, the akimat announced the sale of beef meat at certain points at 2,050 tenge per kilogram.
