More than 100,000 tons of vegetables have been harvested since the beginning of the harvesting campaign in the Saratov region

Since the beginning of the harvesting campaign, farms of all categories of ownership have harvested 109,000 tons of open-ground vegetables with an average yield of 189.9 q/ha. In total, by today, according to the operational data of the regional Ministry of Agriculture, 5.8 thousand hectares have been harvested, which is 38% of the plan.
Farmers of the region dug up 5.8 thousand hectares of potatoes (72% of the plan). With a yield of 156.6 c/ha, the gross harvest amounted to 90.1 thousand tons.
In addition, since the beginning of the year, greenhouse enterprises of the region have collected more than 26,000 tons of vegetable products, including 16,655 tons of cucumbers and 6,258.3 tons of tomatoes.
“In the context of sanctions pressure from unfriendly countries, special attention is paid to the support of vegetable and potato growers by the state. So, on January 1, 2023, the federal project “Development of Vegetable and Potato Growing” will start, within the framework of which subsidies will be provided to small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as self-employed citizens running personal subsidiary plots. Now the region is preparing to implement this project,” said Roman Kovalsky, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Government, Minister of Agriculture of the region.
