In the picturesque district of Hòa Vang, Da Nang, a farming revolution is underway. Over the past six years, the High-Tech Agricultural Cooperative (HTX) for Fruits and Vegetables in Hòa Vang has been a pioneer in the application of high-tech farming practices, emphasizing both production efficiency and environmental stewardship. With an investment of over 2 billion VND, the cooperative has expanded its safe vegetable cultivation model, incorporating greenhouses, misting irrigation systems, and advanced farming equipment.
Annually, the cooperative supplies over 500 tons of various vegetables to the market, yielding approximately 500 million VND in profits after expenses. Moreover, the HTX has become a consistent source of employment for dozens of Cơ Tu ethnic minority residents, with monthly incomes ranging from 6 to 8 million VND per person.
The success of the HTX lies in its commitment to quality and innovation. The cooperative imports vegetable seeds from countries with hot climates, such as Indonesia and Malaysia, ensuring adaptability to local conditions. Water for irrigation is sourced from Hòa Ninh and tested in Đà Lạt to meet quality standards. From seedling to harvest, the HTX meticulously follows the 10-step VietGAP production process, utilizing organic compost and implementing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices.
Quality control is paramount for the HTX. Each harvest undergoes rigorous testing and analysis, guaranteeing the absence of harmful substances. This commitment to superior quality positions the cooperative competitively in the market.
Hòa Vang, as a key agricultural hub, has been actively supporting various agricultural models, including high-tech farming. The district has successfully established high-tech agricultural zones, with notable examples in Trung Nghĩa, Hòa Phú, Hòa Khương, and concentrated animal husbandry areas. These initiatives, coupled with effective support policies and contributions from economic cooperatives, are propelling Hòa Vang towards economic and social development, addressing poverty and hunger.
The district has not only focused on production but also on elevating its brand. With 12 products recognized under the One Commune, One Product (OCOP) program, including 5 four-star quality products, Hòa Vang is making strides in branding and marketing its agricultural strengths.
To bring clean and sustainable produce closer to consumers, Hòa Vang has collaborated with the Department of Industry and Trade in Đà Nẵng to assess the actual production and supply capabilities of hundreds of cooperatives and enterprises. Direct engagement with major commercial centers and supermarkets in the city further promotes the strengths of local products.
Looking ahead, Hòa Vang plans to enhance product visibility by upgrading sales booths for the safe vegetable production and consumption service cooperative in Túy Loan Market. Additionally, the district aims to establish exhibition spaces for agricultural products, promote tourism, and attract investments in Hòa Phong, creating a platform for auctions and sales.
The agricultural landscape in Hòa Vang is undergoing a transformation, where technology, sustainability, and cooperative efforts are driving prosperity. The success stories of the HTX and other high-tech farming initiatives demonstrate the potential for economic growth and environmental stewardship in the region.
