According to the results of the agricultural season-2022, 8.8 million tons of potatoes, vegetables and fruits will be stored in the Russian regions, sobkor reports “КазахЗерно.kz “. This will be a record volume in the last 5 years.

According to the Rosselkhoznadzor, which conducted a study of the plans of suppliers and sellers of agricultural products, reaching the maximum limits became possible thanks to the annual increase in storage capacity. In 2021, they increased by 264 thousand tons, this year by 350 thousand tons. Prior to this year, 2017 was the record year in terms of the volume of warehouses and storage facilities being commissioned (346 thousand tons).

According to experts, by 2025, the total capacity for the one-time placement of vegetables, potatoes and fruits may increase to 9.5 million tons. The end consumer will also benefit from this, because the shelf life and volume of products will increase, which will favorably affect prices, and the retailer, since the share of losses of goods during its storage will decrease. In total, the percentage of utilization of agricultural products will decrease by a third.

Analysts have estimated that over 50% of the products disposed of by retail chains are just fruits and vegetables, 10% are potatoes.
